Project: Website
imax hubble 3d
IMAX requested a web presence for their upcoming film Hubble 3D. The challenge was to create an interactive site that not only educated it’s visitors about the Hubble Telescope and NASA’s related repair missions, but also captivated the user’s attention with the majesty of deep space.

Because this film represented the first time in history that 3D cameras have been sent into space, I felt it was necessary to incorporate a sense of depth into the website to properly accentuate the on-screen action.
How It’s Made
To this end, I designed an interactive 360 degree view of the Hubble Telescope as the centerpiece of the site, allowing users to learn more about the functionality and build of the telescope via an intuitive click-and-drag interface.

By giving users control over Hubble and letting them immerse themselves in the mechanics of its operation, we hoped to invest the user in the subject matter and subsequently garner more attention for the film.
